Arts & Science:

Trent University’s Faculty of Arts and Science is divided into 29 single discipline undergraduate departments and programs, 12 interdisciplinary undergraduate programs, and 15 graduate departments and programs.

Centre for Teaching and Learning:

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a new centre that focuses on supporting and celebrating teaching excellence, innovation and scholarship. The CTL launches teaching initiatives and offers professional development programming on pedagogies and best practices in order to support instructors in the continual enhancement of teaching and learning at Trent University. The CTL also offers individual consultations on learning outcomes, programming and assessment practices as well as coordinating workgroups on pedagogical issues and special teaching-related projects. Trent’s five residential Colleges house offices for faculty and academic departments, student groups, and administrative departments. College Offices provide administrative support for college activities and services including Orientation Week, Academic Advisors (formerly Senior Tutors), and college events. Financial Services:

The Department of Financial Services processes cash receipts for students and other University departments as well as payments for good and services for the University community. Student billing and refunds are processed based on registration information as contained in the University Colleague financial system. Graduate Studies:

The Office of Graduate Studies is responsible for the administration of graduate degree programs offered at Trent University, the admission and registration of graduate students, as well as the management of scholarship and awards for graduate students. The Graduate Studies Committee is a standing committee of Senate and consists of members of faculty, Graduate Program Directors and graduate students from various disciplines, and reviews matters of education policy and planning for graduate students. Human Rights, Equity and Accessibility - Centre for:

The Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Accessibility provides confidential advice to individuals who feel that they may have a rights-related problem under the university's Policy on Discrimination & Harassment and/or who wish to discuss possible options for resolution. The office is also responsible for administering the university's commitment to Accessibility [informed by our obligations under the Ontarians with Disabilities Act (ODA) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)] and its equity/diversity initiatives. Information Technology:

Information Technology is responsible for enterprise computing services and support, staff and student desktop computers, University telecommunications and instructional technology service and support. I.T. builds and manages all University network facilities, including connections to external networks, which include the Internet, ORION, and the Public Switched Telephone Network (PTSN). Institutional Planning & Analysis - Office of :

The Office of Institutional Planning & Analysis is responsible for research and policy support in the areas of strategic planning, enrolment and market research, survey research, database management, and the reporting of Trent University information to external agencies such as the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, Council of Ontario Universities, Statistics Canada and other external agencies requesting institutional data. Physical Resources Department:

The Department of Physical Resources is charged with the long and short term maintenance and repair at Trent University, including all buildings, furniture, equipment, building fabrication, landscaping, and snow removal.  The Physical Resources Department oversees the functioning of the following areas: Facilities Maintenance; Mechanical Electrical Maintenance; Caretaking; Grounds; Waste Management; Capital Project Management; Mailroom; Administration; and the Powerhouse.  For more information, visit the PRD web site.

The Office of the President provides support for the President and Vice-Chancellor who is the chief executive officer of the institution. Registrar:

The Office of the Registrar is responsible for recruitment of new undergraduate domestic students, admission of new undergraduate domestic and international students, and registration of new and continuing students. The Registrar’s Office processes transfer credits, maintains the official student academic records, and evaluates undergraduate degree eligibility. The office is responsible for student financial aid applications, the awarding of scholarships, bursaries, and some prizes, academic timetabling, reporting of enrolment data, and the implementation of systems such as scheduling software. Risk Management:

The Risk Management Department is responsible to protect persons and property at Trent University through the provision of policies, programs and services including Campus Security, Health and Safety, Access Control, Emergency Preparedness and Response, the University Insurance Program, Risk Management, Walkhome and Trent University Emergency First Response.  The department also provides, maintains, enforces and administers the University’s parking program.  For more information, visit the Risk Management web site.
